Friday afternoon’s game might have started a bit slow – it was almost two minutes before points went on the scoreboard – but the Enumclaw girls then wasted little time burying the visiting Kent-Meridian Royals.

Taking the court at 2 p.m., coach Ted Carlson and his Hornet crew outplayed their guests in every facet of the game, rolling to a 54-8 nonleague victory.

The easy decision allowed the Hornets to improve to 3-7 on the season. The Enumclaw girls will be looking for victory No. 4 tonight (Wednesday) when they host Todd Beamer High in Chuck Smith Gym. Tipoff for the North Puget Sound League 4A contest is set for 7 p.m.

n routing the Royals (1-9 overall), the Hornets ran to a 10-0 start and held a 14-3 advantage after one quarter of play. If there was any doubt about the outcome it was eliminated with Enumclaw’s 23-point flurry in the second period. Kent-Meridian routinely wilted under Enumclaw’s defense and was held to just one hoop and a lone free throw during the second half.
