<strong>Ashley High School Senior Athletes Recognized at Banquet </strong></p>
<p>
This past Tuesday Night (5/27/14) Senior Athlete&rsquo;s at Ashley High School were recognized for their achievements over the past 4 years. Before the Awards Banquet the senior&rsquo;s, their parents, administration, student services, coaches and spouses enjoyed a nice buffet provided by The Courtyard by Marriott. Following the dinner Ashley High School Athletic Director, Roy Turner began the awards ceremony with the playing of the Class of 2014 videos.</p>
<p>
Among the Awards given out were: Ashley Athletic Honor Society (Honor Cord)&ndash; for exemplary performance in academics and athletics, Scholar-Athlete Award &ndash; Senior male and female with scholar-athlete (GPA + Athletic Points); Senior Outstanding Athlete Award &ndash; Awarded to the outstanding male and female athlete with the most athletic points in 4 years; Top Ten Scholar-Athletes: Awarded to the top five male and female athletes with the highest scholar-athlete index (GPA + Athletic Points);&nbsp; Top Ten Senior Athletes &ndash; Awarded to the top 5 male and female athletes with the most athletic point in 4 years; Iron Eagle Award - Awarded to any senior student-athletes that letter in at least three sports their senior year; Golden Eagle Award &ndash; awarded to a member of the Ashley staff and is voted on by the student-athletes; Andy Wheeler Award &ndash; Awarded to the senior athlete that most exemplifies leadership, character, and selflessness dedication to Ashley Athletics.</p>
<p>
The Ashley High School Athletic Booster Club presented (6) $1,000 Scholarships to student-athletes. The student-athletes had to write an essay on what it meant to be an athlete at Ashley High school and what they gained from the experience.</p>
<p>
The 103 seniors that lettered in at least one&nbsp;sport in the Class of 2014 had a combined weighted GPA of 3.55.&nbsp; 64 of the 103 student-athletes were recognized as scholar athletes (3.5 GPA or higher).&nbsp;</p>
<p>
Congratulations to all our senior athletes and good luck in the future.&nbsp; Until you learn how to soar, you will fail to understand the privilege it was to be an Eagle. &nbsp;No one can predict the heights you can soar. Even you will not know until you spread your wings.&nbsp; Thanks for soaring into our nest.</p>
