It’s two league matches for the Enumclaw High wrestlers and two easy victories in the books.
The Hornets hosted the Thomas Jefferson Raiders the evening of Dec. 18 and sent the visitors home to Federal Way on the losing end of a 51-15 score. Enumclaw had made its North Puget Sound league debut Dec. 12 and routed Decatur 60-15.
Hornet wrestlers prevailed in nine of the 11 contested matches – each team forfeited a weight class and there was a double forfeit at 182 pounds – against Thomas Jefferson.
Pinning their opponents were Noah Cormier at 106 pounds; Westin Triplett, 120; Aidan Carroll, 145; Lorenzo Luchi, 220; and Ryder Popke, 285. In the finale, Popke turned in the quickest performance of the night, turning his Raider foe in just 15 seconds.
Drew Krehbiel picked up five team points with a 15-0 technical fall at 160 pounds and Cole Bowen earned a major decision at 132; Brandon Cormier and Cade Carter registered decisions at 113 and 126 pounds, respectively.
