EHS teams eyeing postseason games

BASEBALL

The Enumclaw Hornets are one of 16 teams participating in the West Central/Southwest District baseball tournament, a three-day challenge that will send seven talented teams to the Class 4A state tourney.

Enumclaw opened district play Tuesday, getting swamped 10-0 by Federal Way at Art Wright Field in Kent. Tuesday’s loss sent the Hornets into a loser-out game today, Wednesday, against Olympia, also at Art Wright.

SOFTBALL

With the regular season now in the rear-view mirror, the girls of the Enumclaw High softball team can set their sights on postseason battles.

The first of those will come Thursday and Friday as part of the North Puget Sound League tournament, staged at t he Kent Service Club fields. Then, NPSL teams gear up for the West Central/Southwest District tourney, which begins with play-in games May 14 and continues May 17 and 18.

From district play, seven teams will advance to the Class 4A state tournament.

TRACK

The postseason process begins today, Wednesday, for the Enumclaw High track and field crew. The North Puget Sound League meet will play out over two days, ending Thursday, at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

From there, top athletes will advance to the May 16-18 West Central District meet at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

SOCCER

The Hornet boys were left on the sidelines when 10 teams from the North Puget Sound League advanced to the postseason tournament. All 10 played May 4 for seeding purposes only, as all are headed to the West Central/Southwest District tournament.

The NPSL consists of 16 schools in its Olympic and Cascade divisions.
