Enumclaw cross country team does trail work at Nolte State Park

The Enumclaw High School cross country team joined state park employees on Aug. 17 to spread about 18 yards of crushed rock around the trail in order to prevent erosion and improve the surface.

Coach Tod Witzel wrote in an email, “Our cross country team has recently moved back to Nolte State Park as our home course for competitions and we are pleased to participate in this ongoing project that benefits the community as well as our team. We would also like to thank the Washington State Parks for allowing several employees to help us by providing tools and vehicles small enough to transport materials to the trail work sites without disruption to normal park activities.”

Witzel wrote about 20 team members met at the park to do the work. He said the team began “last year to resurface the perimeter trail around Deep Lake.”
