EHS XC Meet Results 2018
Ellensburg Relays, Irene Rhineheart Park (1.5 mile relay split)

General Information:

The Ellensburg Invitational was a great way to open the 2018 cross-country season! It was fantastic to be back on the East side of the mountains after the cancellation of last years meet due to poor air quality. The 2018 race format was a new experience for our athletes. Runners were divided into teams of five, made up of three boys and two girls each. The capable crew of volunteers from Ellensburg gathered split times for all runners and managed place finishes for the many relay teams from 13 schools attending the event. Another twist was a 40-meter segment of racing through People’s Pond in 24 to 30 inches of water. Our young squad was able to gain some valuable race experience and some of our athletes recovering from minor injuries and sickness were able to heal up without taxing themselves too much in this jamboree environment. Conditions were ideal on Saturday…much cooler than the 90-plus degree temperatures we experienced two years ago. We were able to shake off the first meet jitters and enjoy some valuable team bonding time in the car caravan, between races and while sharing a meal after the meet. Thanks to the many Hornet parents for volunteering their time to transport our athletes and allowing us to offer a quality experience to Hornets XC.

Meet Highlights:

• Enumclaw boys place 1st in the overall hypothetical meet scores at the Ellensburg Relays
• Enumclaw girls place 2nd overall in the Ellensburg hypothetical meet standings
• Sam Lingwall, Dominic Deady and Jacob Dickson post the top 3 overall relay split times at People’s Pond
• Payton Roberson clocks a relay split in the top 5 at Irene Rhineheart Riverfront Park
• The co-ed team of Sam Lingwall, Piper Laymen, Dominic Deady, Payton Roberson and Jacob Dickson placed 2nd overall at the Ellensburg Relays
• The co-ed team of Kyle Revell, Megan Ogburn, Seth Coons, Kristen Dickson and Nathan Erickson placed 5th overall in the Ellensburg Relays.
