The Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo Team scored three goals in the final 55 seconds of Thursday’s game to beat Rogers 9-8 at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center.
The Hornets trailed 3-2 after the first period, but tied the score at 3-3 at halftime. Rogers outscored Enumclaw 4-3 in the third period to take a 7-6 lead into the final period. The fourth quarter was scoreless for over five minutes, when the Rams took an 8-6 lead with 1:57 left. Ben Hauswirth brought the Hornets within one when he scored with 55 seconds left. The Hornets held on for a defensive stop on the Rams’ next possession, and Hauswirth scored again with 18 seconds left to tie the game at 8-8. After a Ram timeout, the Hornets stole the ball on the next possession with five seconds left and fed the ball to a breaking Kyle Morgan, who made a cross-cage pass to Hauswirth for the last-second score, and the 9-8 win.
