EHS XC Meet Results 2016

Twilight Invitational (girls only), Cedarcrest Golf Course, Marysville, WA (5k)

Saturday, Oct. 1st 2016, Mixed Conditions, 60 Degrees

Meet Highlights:

  • The Twilight Invitational is an event that closely mimics the WIAA State Championship Meet in both the level of competition and race venue characteristics. The course is generally fast and the later races are contested after sunset with various industrial and seasonal lighting adding to the festive atmosphere. After the final serious race is concluded, the athletes join together in a “fun” costume race to close out the evening!

  • This year the Lady Hornets made an appearance in the costume race as a squadron of glow in the dark alien ballerinas being chased by a Sasquatch and two sword-wielding fighting girls. As they crossed the finish line they were joined by the Sumner High School XC Team, in their very creative costumes representing the major presidential candidates of 2016 riding ostriches! It was a fun evening!

  • On the competitive side, The Hornets did an outstanding job after a tough week of training without a dual meet and fighting off a round of sickness that has moved through the team over the last ten days. The Squad was still able to come away at the end of the meet with six girls having set lifetime best marks and seven others with season best times. A great effort on the part of the Hornets!

  • Leading the way for the team was Hunter Storm, breaking the twenty-minute barrier for the first time this season, followed closely by Payton Roberson, who narrowly missed dipping under the 21-minute barrier. Nice Work!
