Jordan Geist and Madison Wiltrout each capped their decorated high school careers last month with PIAA titles.

On Thursday, they were honored for their accomplishments as the Gatorade Pennsylvania Track and Field Athletes of the Year.

Geist, an Arizona recruit from Knoch, won WPIAL and PIAA gold medals in the shot put and discus for a third straight season.

Wiltrout, a recent Connellsville grad who will continue her career at North Carolina, won WPIAL and PIAA javelin titles.

This is the second Gatorade Pennsylvania Athlete of the Year honor for Wiltrout, who also won in 2015 when she set a national record (185 feet, 8 inches).

As a 5-foot-9 senior, she claimed her fourth state javelin title (160-9). She had a season-best throw of 173-10 this spring, the top throw nationwide for high school athletes.

She won the javelin event last weekend at New Balance Nationals Outdoor (156-3) in Greensboro, N.C.

“I've had the good fortune to see Madison grow not only as an athlete, but as a human being,” Connellsville coach Jeff Galand said in a press release. “She's the ultimate competitor, but she gets as much joy from helping others be successful as from her own success.”

Geist, who also was the Gatorade Pennsylvania Track and Field Athlete of the Year as a junior, captured two gold medals and a silver medal at the New Balance Nationals. He won the shot put (76-0) and hammer throw (238-9) and was second in discus (201-9).

His shot put mark is the nation's top throw this season and ranked third in U.S. high school history. His hammer throw also was a nation's best this season.
