State 1A Mid-East Regionals was held Monday May 1 in Goldsboro. Two FLA varsity golf members Chayse Teague and Caden Colvin competed in the 18 hole match and played well in a field of 60 strong athletes. Both finished mid-pack but came up short of advancing to the State Championship.
It was a great experience and big accomplishment, and this is something they can both be very proud of.
Our goal this year was to take someone to Regionals, we accomplished this with two individuals and only missed taking the team by a few strokes. This was a great season and I'm very proud of my team.
Congratulations also to Franklin Academy for taking first place as a team. We also had couple of individuals that qualified to advance on to the State Championship from our conference, Cole Scarce, Drake Weatherspoon, Chris McCabe. Cole also tied for first as medalist for Regionals.
